Project Architects Details

K13, Galveston Cruise Terminal The Texas Cruise Ship Terminal on Galveston Island is located 42 miles from Houston Hobby Airport and 70 miles from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. If you are going to take a cruise in the Gulf of Mexico, chances are you will depart from the Port of Galveston’s Texas Cruise Ship Terminal. Because of the increased demand for cruises, many cruise ship passenger terminals are being developed by renovating unused freight terminals.

Two significant challenges faced by changing the function of the building was it did not have HVAC system or sound control. The high noise levels, high/low temperatures, and humidity would have been unacceptable for cruise passengers. A decision was made to have 1.5 inches of K-13 white applied to the ceiling. The project was able to be completed ahead of schedule because of the ease and speed of installing K-13. K-13 provided the necessary noise control and at the same time provided thermal integrity to the un-insulated metal deck.

K13, Galveston Cruise TerminalK-13 offers superior acoustical control and is available in 6 standard colors: Black, Gray, Light Gray, Tan, White, and Beige. Custom colors are also available to match any interior décor. Arenas, museums, libraries, gyms, worship facilities, and restaurants are just a few of the many projects that benefit from K-13.

For new construction or renovation projects, ICC’s family of spray applied products offer the ideal ceiling treatment for all of your thermal and acoustical needs. For additional information, contact us at (800) 444-1252 or visit our website at www.spray-on.com.
